The reason why many doctors, clinics, or facilities do not participate in Medicare Advantage plans is because they deny payment for work done on patients regularly, leaving the already time strapped medical office to either take a loss on the work, or fight with the company for months to maybe get paid.
As a small medical office, you literally can go out of business because of Medicare Advantage plans payment practices.
I actually canceled my Part B and switched to a Direct Primary Care doctor — cheaper than the monthly Part B premium, no timed visits, and my doctor actually listens. I can talk about anything, and for the first time, I found out I was vitamin D deficient! Please do a show on Direct Primary Care offices — I’m so done with insurance and this broken system.
I am a provider that takes insurance. I hate Medicare Advantage plans with a passion. It’s a fight to get paid, especially by United and certain plans don’t even allow me to collect from the patient. I do not get paid for my services. It is unsustainable.
